who and why marries

Yesterday I talked to one of my friends. We discussed a question – who and why marries. Everybody certainly has his own opinion, but I hold by my opinion- woman always chooses. This is woman who chooses her lifepartner.
I did not see any example when man would choose a girlfriend for eternal life as he is not sure wether it is a lifelove or not.
Is there anybody who can give me an example? It’s an interesting topic!:)
