Petter Solberg has not stayed the distance on road section between the fifth and the sixth special parts because of the technical problem with his gearbox, and Chris Atkinson has broken his car… After eventful Friday special parts Mikko Hirvonen leaves on the second rally day with ten-second advantage above his nearest persecutor. The first day was crowned with themselves with two passages of short spectator “Obihiro” rally course on which the team’s number one Citroen Sebastien Loeb has managed to outstrip the early leader of the race Jari-Matti Latvala and to come out on the second place in the absolute with advantage above the Finn in three seconds. If Loeb will finish in rally of Japan not below the fourth place he automatically become the new leader of the series.
